BMW 5 series is a set of executive wagon, sedan or fastback body cars , the first model was produced in 1972 and since then manufacturing of them is continued. According to statistics, 5 series is in the second place of BMW best selling cars (3 series are in first place). Seven generations were produced in total since 1972: first generation was produced from 1972 until 1981, second from 1981 until 1988, third from 1988 until 1996, fourth between 1995 and 2003, fifth from 2003 to 2010, sixth from 2010 to 2016 and the newest one, seventh generation was introduced in 2017 and since then is manufactured. About 200 – 300 thousand units of 5 series are being produced yearly starting from 1997.
