Alfa Romeo 164 is a four-door executive saloon that was made since 1987 until 1998. The development of this model started after Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Lancia and Saab made an agreement to each make a sallon which would be developed on Type Four platform. These saloon cars had an intention to be rivalrs for a well known car brands such as BMW, Ford, Opel and Mercedes-Benz and their saloon type cars. The first 164 was front wheel drive and had one of the 2.0i Twin Spark, 3.0i V6 or 2.5 Turbodiesel engines. Soon other engines were installed in the cars such as  3.0i V6 Quadrifoglio Verde. There were made 273 857 cars for a domestic use and 164 cars for an export.
