Alpina V8 Roadster is based on BMW Z8. When Z8 was discontinued in 2002 nearly after that V8 was started to manufacture as a replacement. Comparing to the Z8, Roadster had a automatic five-speed transmission and not the manual six-speed as it was in Z8. Engine was used the same as it was in Alpina E39 B10 V8 S. After the modification engines power slightly decreased but peak torque increased. There were 555 Alpina V8 Roadster cars built.
